There are three main types of “crabs” in the Philippines:
Talangka are the very small crabs. Alimango are thee huge foreclaws. Alimasag is the well-known type of crab with relatively slender claws.
The scientific name of most crabs known as alimasag is Portunus pelagicus, known in English as the flower crab, blue crab or white sea crab.
