Edible Fern of Southeast Asia

Green and nutritious, pako is great for salads!

The Filipino word for edible fiddlehead ferns is pako. In Brunei and Malaysia, these fiddleheads are called paku midin or miding. The fernbrakes are called kogomi in Japanese and kosari in Korean.

Scientific name: Matteuccia struthiopteris

To compare, the fern called diliman in Tagalog has the scientific name Stenochlaena palustris.
