A company in the United States has been marking their own ice-cream products with the “Magnolia” name, using San Miguel’s iconic oval logo. That company Ramar has no affiliation with San Miguel Philippines. Even today, many Filipino Americans assume that the Magnolia ice-cream they eat in the USA is related to the Magnolia in the Philippines. It is not.
OMGpeke refers to the Magnolia brand of ice cream in the United States… It is produced by a Northern California company that has no affiliation whatsoever with the creator of the Magnolia brand in the Philippines… The Magnolia logo, trademark and brand identity that Philippine-born Filipinos know and grew up with were created and are still owned by San Miguel in the Philippines… Despite that, under the laws of United States, a totally unaffiliated USA company has been “legally” using that very same Magnolia logo and trade dress in the United States for ice cream.
